Rights to John Katzenbach's scary novel The Madman's Tale have been purchased by producer Elliot Kastner. According to Variety, it will be made under Kastner's Cinema Seven banner.

The tale revolves around a crazy rapist who finds shelter in a mental institute. The story is told from one of the prisoner's points-of-view. Gregory Read is directing, while Katzenbach himself is writing the screenplay.

There is no official word on when this project will go before the lens.
