On a recent installment of Rob Lowe and Alan Yang's reminiscent podcast Parks and Recollection, an Office Ladies style talk show dedicated to the beloved NBC sitcom Parks and Rec, guest Jim O'Heir joined the duo to talk about current projects and his time on the show. O'Heir played Jerry, the inept but lovable, and unduly, sometimes cruelly bullied, parks and recreation employee.

During the conversation, O'Heir hinted that he was currently working on a pretty exciting project, but when pressed for details, he very characteristically said, "Oh, Shoot. I don't know if I'm allowed to say where I am. I can say a state. I'm in a state, New Mexico, I don't know." The podcast hosts replied that they, in fact, did know what project he was working on, saying, “I will say, Jim, I know what you’re working on, and it rhymes with the latest installment of Bar Wars.”

So, is this real? Is this a joke? Are we being taunted with this exciting possibility? All we can say is that we hope this is real. Here are our reasons for thinking, hoping against hard proof, that our favorite Jerry Gergich will join The Mandalorian season 3's highly anticipated roster of new faces, which just confirmed the addition of Christopher Lloyd.

Why It Could Be Possible

There are a few, though sadly speculative, reasons to hope that O'Heir has been cast in The Mandalorian and that this isn't all just some cruel hoax. Sources have connected some dots, and while the Mando and Grogu show typically shoots in Manhattan Beach, California, it is suspected that there are some desert scenes or sequences currently shooting and not scheduled to wrap just yet. Due to observing a photo that Bryce Dallas Howard posted to her Instagram of her glorious return to the Mando franchise as director this upcoming season, the background appears to be a desert location.

In terms of production, New Mexico is just a quick jump from all the Hollywood action, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that The Mandalorian is currently shooting in New Mexico, thereby giving us high hopes for Jim O'Heir being there right alongside them. While this isn't much to go on, we will do anything to cling to hope. Here's what we would want to see if O'Heir is confirmed to be on or spotted on the series!

Jerry Meets Grogu

Jim O'Heir plays Jerry Gergich on Parks and Rec, the often clumsy employee who occasionally forgets important dates or tasks, but is the most devoted husband and father, is always kind and considerate, and always has a bright smile on his face. It doesn't matter how many times the characters bully him, mock him, or name-call him, even changing his name multiple times throughout the series from Gary to Jerry, then Jerry to Gary, and then to Larry. Jerry is the butt of all jokes on the show. Still, the brilliant twist is that Jerry is the one who wins, in the end, no matter what happens at his job. He gets to go home to his stunningly beautiful wife and lovely girls every night, hosts lovely holiday parties, and looks forward to a peaceful and happy retirement in his hometown. And Jerry ultimately becomes the Mayor of Pawnee, Indiana, in an ironic but fitting twist at the end of the series. Fortunately, being the butt of all jokes was never a problem for O'Heir, as he lovingly talks about his character on the Parks and Recollection podcast.

Let's shift this dynamic into Star Wars and, hopefully, The Mandalorian. Imagine the kind of beautiful soul that O'Heir inhabits as the gentle Jerry interacting with Mando and Grogu. Imagine him as an integral character, perhaps bringing some inept but lovable tendencies with him. Perhaps Jerry can even function as an effective babysitter! Who can't see Grogu taking to the kindly O'Heir, who can so easily communicate a big heart and a sacrificial nature? It's making our hearts melt just talking about it.

What O’Heir’s Casting Would Mean to Audiences

The promise of adventure with this casting is outstanding and would be extremely enjoyable all-around. Better yet, in a meta mix of worlds, what better way for Jerry to get the last laugh than to be the one that goes on to be a Star Wars character? This would be a symbolic triumph of the underdog that we all deserve to see. We hope that we can look forward to seeing Jim O'Heir alongside the Mandalorian himself and Grogu when season 3 is released, but most importantly, we hope that Gail and the girls are doing well!
