While we have still to see Iman Vellani make her Marvel debut as the title character in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, new images from the set of The Marvels has revealed a new costume from the young superhero. Vellani will appear as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the upcoming Disney+ series next year before joining forces with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau for the movie formerly known as Captain Marvel 2, and while there is not too much known about the series or the movie so far, the new image is a clear look at one of the suits Ms. Marvel will be seen in during the sequel.

While similar in color to the previous shots from the Ms. Marvel series, there are some differences in the latest costume, which seems to be pretty comic-accurate in the images from the Atlanta set of 16-year-old Vellani having her make-up perfected by one of the crew as you can see below.

Kamala Khan is one of the wave of new characters being introduced in Phase 4 of the MCU, and is also one of the newer additions to the Marvel comic book world having only made her debut in 2012 as the first Muslim character to get her own series. By the time she joins The Marvels we will have learned more about her character, but that doesn’t mean that she won’t go through a lot of additional development in the movie, as director Nia DaCosta said previously that despite this being a Captain Marvel movie, there is plenty of room for both Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau to breathe.

"It’s interesting, and something we thought about and worked through a lot, which was how do we get each of these really big, exciting heroes space in a two-hour film?" DaCosta told Inverse earlier this year. "Captain Marvel has a history from the first film, Kamala will have her Ms. Marvel show, and Monica Rambeau, we’ve only seen her a little bit in WandaVision."

In the same interview, DaCosta elaborated on how the film is going to show the human side of Carol Danvers, which will probably be made easier by having Ms. Marvel around considering her idolization of the Avenger. She said, "For The Marvels, my biggest thing going into it was making sure I approached these characters as human beings and not necessarily as superheroes. I want to know more about Captain Marvel. Who is she? What are her fears? What drives her? How do you actually deal with being the most powerful being in the universe? How does that weigh on you? That's the sort of thing I want to explore."

There is currently no set date for the Ms. Marvel series to premiere on Disney+, but recent Disney Investor meetings have suggested that it won’t arrive until late in 2022, which would probably make sense with The Marvels now expected in theaters on February 17th, 2023 after having its release date postponed in the recently Marvel Studios release schedule overhaul.
