The Korean version of Priyanka Chopra’s character poster for The Matrix Resurrections has seemingly revealed the identity of her mysterious character, with the text carrying the name ‘Sati’. Until now, we had been left none-the-wiser with regards to the role that Chopra would portray when we return to the world of The Matrix, with this recent revelation perhaps offering several clues as to the direction of the upcoming sequel.

The translation of the caption alongside the poster mentions the character's name as ‘Sati’ in the hashtag, with the text reading, “#Satiㅣ#Priyanka Chopra Foretelling the root of action! #Matrix_Resurrection colorful character posters released #Matrix #Lana Wachowski #IMAX release in December.” Many had already theorized that Chopra may be playing Sati, a character last seen in 2003’s The Matrix Revolutions. Exiled due to her being a program with no purpose, Sati is taken under the care of The Oracle, who protects the child after she is smuggled into the Matrix, and believes that the child will someday have a large impact on the future of both humans and the Machines.

Sati meets Neo at the mysterious Mobil Avenue, a separate virtual world controlled by the Trainman that is used for smuggling in rogue programs, and, following the death of The One, Sati creates a sunrise within the new, rebooted version of the Matrix. In the movie’s final moments, Sati asks the Oracle if they will ever see Neo again, to which the Oracle replies that she believes they will. It seems that, as usual, The Oracle was right.

Priyanka Chopra, therefore, is likely to be playing an older version of Sati, who will be drawn into the struggle between man and machine once again as Neo gradually discovers his past as the savior of mankind. The Matrix Resurrections is a continuation of the story established in the first Matrix movie, picking up twenty years after the first installment. Described as a mind-bending new adventure with action and epic scale, it's set in a familiar yet even more provocative world where reality is more subjective than ever and all that's required to see the truth is to free your mind.

Thanks to the recent marketing material, we now have a better idea of what to expect from The Matrix Resurrections. The story begins with Neo now living a seemingly ordinary life as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco where his therapist prescribes him sinister blue pills. Though he does not remember his prior adventures, he is haunted by dreams and visions of his bullet-dodging past, with a band of freedom fighters once again pulling him into the fray.

Priyanka Chopra is just one of several new recruits due to star alongside a returning Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Eréndira Ibarra, Andrew Caldwell, Brian J. Smith, Ellen Hollman, and Christina Ricci are all set to enter the Matrix, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II confirmed to be playing a younger Morpheus alongside Chopra’s older Sati.

Produced, co-written, and directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections will have its world premiere on December 18, 2021, in San Francisco and is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures theatrically on December 22, 2021. The movie will also stream digitally on HBO Max in the United States for a month beginning on that same date. This comes to us from Warner Bros. Korea.
