Teen Wolf star Dylan O'Brien has landed the male lead in 20th Century Fox's adaptation The Maze Runner.

The actor will portray Thomas, who wakes up in a strange maze known as The Glade, with no recollection of how he got there. He must work together with a group of teenagers, who also don't remember how they ended up in the maze, to figure a way out. Thomas Sangster, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen, and Kaya Scodelario are co-starring.

Wes Ball is directing from a script by Noah Oppenheim, with rewrites by Grant Myers and T.S. Nowlin. The project is based on James Dashner's novel series, that has been compared to Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy.

Production is scheduled to begin in Baton Rouge, Louisiana this May, with a February 14, 2014 release date already set by Fox. Dylan O'Brien will next be seen in The Internship, alongside Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.
