Apple announced earlier this week that The Morning Show will return for a third season. The show’s second season aired from September 17th, 2021 to November 19th, 2021. Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston will return as Bradley Jackson and Alex Levy. Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Julianna Marguiles, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Greta Lee, Steve Carell, Ruairi O’Connor will return as series regulars. Hasan Minhaj, Mindy Kaling, Holland Taylor, and more had recurring roles in season two.

The show will have a new boss in the wake of its third season as Kerry Ehrin, who developed the show, will be stepping down as lead showrunner. Charlotte Stoudt, known as co-exec producer for Fosse/Verdon, will be the series new showrunner while Ehrin will serve as a consultant for its 3rd season. Stoudt, who also worked on House of Cards, has signed a multi-year overall deal with Apple.

“I’m excited to be joining forces with Apple TV+ and The Morning Show,” said Stoudt. “The cast, led by the phenomenal Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, are truly to die for. Kerry, Mimi and Michael, and the teams at Media Res, Hello Sunshine, and Echo Films, have created an irresistible world that is equally delicious and provocative.”

The second season ends with Aniston’s Alex Levy going on air as she fights Covid while in the wake of being “canceled” after Maggie Brenner (Marcia Gay Harden) comes out with a book detailing the host’s affair with her morning show co-host Mitch Kessler. Kessler (Steve Carell), being Alex's only friend and true companion, also passes away this season. In other news, the finale ends with a major cliffhanger as Cory Allison (Billy Crudup) confesses his love for Bradley Jackson, whose girlfriend Laura Peterson (Julianna Margulies) is in Montana quarantining. Jackson, too occupied with finding her missing brother, leaves the confession hanging.

Ehrin tells deadline that there might be a time jump for season 3 and that she hopes to see more of Bradley and Laura’s relationship in the next season. “I feel like Alex has come to a place for the first time since the pilot of accepting who she is and facing her worst fears, and I want to see how the phoenix rises from the ashes for her and learning how to have a full life and be present and loving,” she says.

The series is produced by Media Res, Hello Sunshine, and Echo Films. It is exec produced by Aniston, Witherspoon, Ehrin, Stoudt, Michael Ellenberg through Media, Kristin Hahn through Echo Films, Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine, and director Mimi Leder.

A release date for the third season has not been announced, but you can catch up on seasons 1 and 2 streaming now on Apple TV+.
