Netflix has released an official teaser trailer for The Mother. Starring Jennifer Lopez, the film follows a skilled assassin who comes out of hiding to protect her daughter who she gave up years before. The first look teaser was unveiled at Netflix's fan event TUDUM and it has since been made available to watch online. You can check out the new teaser below.
Along with Lopez, the film stars Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci, and Gael Garcia Bernal. It is directed by Niki Caro (Mulan) and is written by Andrea Berloff, Peter Craig, and Misha Green based on a story by Green.
This film is one of many projects to come from Lopez after signing a first look deal with Netflix in 2021. It follows the release of the documentary Halftime which focused on her career and life in the spotlight. She is also set to star in the upcoming sci-fi movie Atlas alongside Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us).

Lopez can also be seen in the upcoming rom-com Shotgun Wedding for Prime Video. That film, which also stars Josh Duhamel, follows a couple who gathers their entire families together for a destination wedding that's taken hostage. Jennifer Coolidge, Sonia Braga, Lenny Kravitz, and Cheech Marin also star.
The Mother will be released for streaming on Netflix in May 2023.
