Months after it was first announced that Rob Zombie would be rebooting The Munsters with a new movie adaptation, production on the project has since commenced in Budapest. Throughout the process, Zombie has been keeping his fans posted with various updates and sneak peek images, from the construction of the house to the unveiling of the main cast. The latest image shared by Zombie reveals Dan Roebuck getting measured for a coffin to be custom-built for Grandpa Munster, with the actor getting fitted for the coffin while wearing his vampire cape.

"It's Monday! Time to measure Dan Roebuck for his custom coffin. He can't just buy one off the rack," Zombie jokes in the caption. Lily Munster actress Sheri Moon Zombie commented with a bat emoji while Herman actor Jeff Daniel Phillips wrote, "Like a glove!"

Dan Roebuck is a veteran actor with decades of experience, and this includes frequent collaborations with Rob Zombie. We've seen him in a variety of roles, but he recently revealed how playing The Count, aka Grandpa Munster, in The Munsters is the character he's been preparing his whole life to play. Roebuck explained in an interview with Horror Geek Life that this role marks a full-circle moment for him.

"After it sank in, I had the epiphany that I'd been preparing for this role my whole life. I'm in this movie because it's God's will, it's where he wants me to be. I created a character when I was twelve years old and I named him The Count. Rob told me the character in the script was named The Count. It's a funny vampire named The Count and when I was twelve, I was a funny vampire named The Count... Since I've been preparing my whole life for this, I think I'll do a pretty good job. Let me put it like this, Jeff, Sheri and I are not playing Fred Gwynne, Yvonne De Carlo, or Al Lewis. We are playing Herman, Lily, and The Count, which is an easier way for us to approach it."

Along with Dan Roebuck, Sheri Moon Zombie, and Jeff Daniel Phillips, The Munsters features Richard Brake in a mad scientist role. these are the only officially confirmed cast members to be announced by Rob Zombie at this time, but with filming underway and consistent updates coming out from the filmmakers, we can presume that more announcements are imminent. We're expecting the possible confirmation of rumored names like Jorge Garcia, Sylvester McCoy, and Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson, who are reportedly attached in mystery roles.

Because Rob Zombie is a lifelong fan of the original show who considers The Munsters to be the best TV series ever made, he's clearly taking the production very seriously, and everything we've seen so far looks great. We are also still waiting on a release date for The Munsters, but if previous reports are accurate, the movie will be made available for streaming on Peacock along with a theatrical release. In the meantime, fans of the classic television series can watch the original version of The Munsters on Peacock.
