Production Weekly reports that production is scheduled to begin this Spring on a sequel to Irwin Winkler's 1995 thriller The Net, which toplined Sandra Bullock. Irwin's son, Charles Winkler, who played a cop in the original film, will helm The Net 2.0, written by Rob Cowan.

The script follows Hope Cassidy who arrives in Istanbul to start a new job as a computer systems analyst only to have her identity stolen, her credit cards invalidated, and her bank account emptied. Having left her boyfriend, James Pond, behind in L.A. and having her new job hijacked by ZZ, a local haircutter who calmly insists she's Hope Cassidy, Hope find herself on the lam from the authorities who claim she's guilty of murdering a cop and stealing $14 million dollars.
