As if both Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling didn't have a big enough summer adventure planned in Barbieland, yet another big new project is about to hit their docket. This time, however, they may be switching out brightly-colored rollerblades for some high-profile thief masks. After what seemed like an eternal hiatus, per a report from Collider, production on the prequel film to Ocean's Eleven is now set to officially begin at the end of June, with both Robbie and Gosling set to star in the newest heist flick.

The so-called Ocean's film franchise first rocked theaters way back in 2001 with Ocean's Eleven, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh and starred some of the most sought-after actors at the time, including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, George Clooney, Andy Garcia, and Julia Roberts. It established an entirely unique, stylish spin on the heist comedy film niche and was extraordinarily successful at the box office, inevitably spawning sequels, the latest being the female-led Ocean's 8 which came out in 2018 and starred the likes of Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway. After that rumors began to fly of yet another installment in the franchise, but there was no script or casting to cement the deal just yet.

Now that's changed, however, as filming is about to start on the new project in just a couple of weeks or so, according to official documentation from the FTIA (Film & Television Industry Alliance) website. While few details are available, France is listed as the current shooting location, and the brief summary states that it will be "an original Ocean's Eleven that is set in Europe in the 1960s". That means it will be set a ways back before the very first film, and likely with a completely original cast. So far, the only two confirmed stars are Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in undisclosed roles. At the helm of the film will be Jay Roach, who previously directed Robbie in the 2019 satire drama Bombshell. Writing the script is Carrie Solomon, while producers include Tom Ackerley, Michelle Graham, Josey McNamara, Olivia Milch, and Gary Ross.

Margot Robbie is keeping plenty busy, even after maybe temporarily hanging up her mallet as Harley Quinn. This month she'll be appearing in Wes Anderson's Asteroid City in a still-undisclosed role, and as the one-and-only Barbie alongside Gosling's Ken in Greta Gerwig's comedic film adaptation of the fashion doll icon. James Gunn, who worked with Robbie previously on The Suicide Squad (2021), has dropped the hint that they'll work again together on future projects. Whether that's as Harley Quinn remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling has two upcoming films including his co-star role in Barbie next month, and David Leitch's action thriller film The Fall Guy. He also recently appeared opposite Chris Evans in the Russo Bros' latest feature The Gray Man. He is an actor that likes to keep busy.
