It's official: David Brent and Michael Scott will finally meet face-to-face. Ricky Gervais is set to make a cameo appearance on NBC's The Office. Show-runner Paul Lieberstein confirmed the cameo, which will happen at the beginning of the January 27 episode:

It's a little more than if you blink, you'll miss it, but if you don't set your TiVo right, you'll miss it."

This cameo was actually filmed way back in September, when Ricky Gervais was in Los Angeles for the Emmys. The appearance was even so secret that the producers didn't tell NBC about it at first. Paul Lieberstein also revealed that the cameo was shot outside of the Dunder-Mifflin offices with Steve Carell's Michael Scott interacting with Ricky Gervais' David Brent:

Ricky had wanted to do something [with the U.S. Office] and it felt like we shouldn't go the whole series without them connecting. But we had some issues to work out, like how does David Brent live in the world of Michael Scott. It's outside of the office, and it's just the two of them interacting. It's just a little nod to Steve and his final year."

Make sure to catch this long-awaited Ricky Gervais cameo on The Office on January 27 at 9 PM ET on NBC.
