While Netflix isn't one to let their viewership numbers out there for everyone and their mothers to gaze upon, it seems to be a pretty well-known fact that The Office starring Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, and John Krasinski is the streaming giant's number one show for years now. Well, we're sorry to report that this all comes to an end in 2021 as NBC announced Tuesday that The Office is leaving Netflix. But don't worry, you still have over a full year to get your fix. Yes, the show will begin streaming exclusively on NBC's upcoming streaming service for five years, starting in 2021. The NBC streaming service will launch in 2020.

Bonnie Hammer, chairman of NBCUniversal's direct-to-consumer and digital enterprises, said in a statement.

"The Office has become a staple of pop culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before. We can't wait to welcome the gang from Dunder Mifflin to NBCUniversal's new streaming service."

Netflix themselves even sent out a tweet following the announcement, writing this.

"We're sad that NBC has decided to take The Office back for its own streaming platform - but members can binge watch the show to their hearts' content ad-free on Netflix until January 2021."

I don't know about you, but I was watching The Office last night on Netflix. It's been a thing for years with me, but I'm just now getting my fiance into the joys of Jim and Pam and Michael and Dwight. One good-ish thing about The Office leaving Netflix is that maybe this new NBC streaming service will finally give us something that Netflix has never offered - the show's deleted/extended scenes. As a massive fan of the series since it began airing, I own all of the seasons (other than season five) on DVD, and one of the best aspects of owning The Office on Blu-ray/DVD is the above mentioned deleted/extended scenes. Unlike most shows and movies, the deleted and extended scenes contained on any given The Office Blu-ray/DVD is classic content. Trust me. You want more The Office, but you've already burned through all nine seasons? Get your hands on all the deleted scenes - there are some for every single episode - and enjoy.

The Office depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. The series was developed for American audiences by Greg Daniels and ran on NBC from March 2005 to May 2013, over nine seasons and 201 episodes. The original executive producers were Greg Daniels, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant. The Office initially featured Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Mindy Kaling, and B. J. Novak as the main cast, but over time added names such as Ed Helms, Craig Robinson, James Spader, and Ellie Kemper to the team. The Office leaves Netflix (for good?) come January 2021.
