Gamemaker MumboJumbo has just optioned the rights to NBC's popular Thursday night sitcom The Office. According to Variety, the company plans on turning the hit show into an interactive videogame.
The game will have players handling the workload at Dunder Mifflin, and they will also have to play pranks on Dwight. This is the first-ever Hollywood license for the game company. They also have the likeness rights to the show's cast, which will be portrayed as bobble-head dolls. Video clips will also be included in game play.
MumboJumbo's Vice President of product development Mike Suarez stated, "We were anxious to expand our audience with a property that has broad appeal and works well as a game. It will help us to demonstrate that casual games are the true mass videogame market."
The game will be available for the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP handheld consoles, as well as the PC. It will be available as a download on-line from a variety of sites. MumboJumbo is already planning sequels to the game.
The Office videogame will be available this fall.
