According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fourth-quarter DVD derby is off and running, with Warner Home Video announcing one of the first major releases of the holiday selling season: The Polar Express, slated for Nov. 22 release.

The animated Christmas film, with executive producer Tom Hanks as one of the lead voice talents, grossed nearly $163 million at the boxoffice during its domestic theatrical run during the 2004 holiday season.

Warner is giving The Polar Express the full DVD VIP treatment, releasing the film in a two-disc special edition that includes such extras as a never-before-seen Smokey and Steamer song, a Polar Express challenge for kids, a featurette on the technology used to create the film, a documentary on the characters voiced by Hanks and a performance of the film's Oscar-nominated song, Believe, by Josh Groban at the Greek Theatre.
