Henry Jackman is going to compose the score for Shane Black's The Predator. Black, who starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original Predator, has been hard at work on the reboot/sequel for a while now, but the project is coming together and will be released in theaters this fall. One of the final pieces of the puzzle has been put into place, as the Captain America: Civil War composer has been tapped to score the original soundtrack for The Predator.

As far as composers in the modern landscape of cinema, Henry Jackman may not be the flashiest name, but he's very capable and prolific. Aside from Captain America: Civil War, some of his credits include Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Kong: Skull Island, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Captain Phillips and Disney's upcoming Wreck-It Ralph sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet. He's also worked in the video game world, composing the original music for games like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Just Cause 3. He also has some not-so-great movies on his resume, such as Man on a Ledge and Pixels, but the music isn't to blame for the shortcomings of those movies.

What's perhaps most exciting about the news that Henry Jackman has boarded The Predator is that the movie is much closer to actually becoming a reality. Composing the soundtrack is typically one of the steps that takes place later in the process, after principal photography has been completed. The Predator has recently been undergoing some reshoots, but the bulk of it has been shot and is being put together. Having Jackman working on the soundtrack means that, after several delays, we're finally going to get a new Predator movie this year that can hopefully bring the franchise back to its former glory.

There appears to be a lot working against The Predator right now, which is more or less going to reboot the franchise, but will have some connective tissue to the original movies. For one, the movie has been delayed twice, now set for a September 14 release. There's also the recent reshoots, rumors of poor test screenings, no role for Arnold Schwarzenegger and the suburban setting. However, despite that, Shane Black is a great director, generally speaking, and the cast is incredibly promising. Plus, Fox is spending the money on these reshoots to make sure the movie is as good as can be. Not to mention that they're also releasing it in 3D, which can bring in more money, but also represents an additional upfront cost. There's enough here to make it seem like, hopefully, this is the Predator movie we've been waiting for.

Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alfie Allen, Edward James Olmos and Thomas Jane star in The Predator. The movie's writer, Fred Dekker (Monster Squad), has also promised that the first teaser trailer is on the way soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
