We have a brand new, full-length trailer for The Punisher season 2 on our hands. Unfortunately, it appears as though the Netflix era of Marvel is coming to an end, as the streaming service has canceled Iron Fist, Luke Cage and, perhaps most surprisingly, Daredevil, leaving just Jessica Jones and The Punisher standing. It's largely expected that both remaining shows will be canceled swiftly after their new season's drop. But fear not, as Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle is coming back for what looks to be a very bloody and action-packed goodbye, if indeed this is goodbye.

Things start out with Frank Castle beating up an entire bar's worth of people before Would? by Alice in Chains kicks in to really get the vibe right. We then get to the heart of the matter as the showdown between Frank and Jigsaw is set up. From that point, it's all out war with lots of action, destruction and an absurdly high body count. This is the R-rated Marvel content many of us are going to miss once these shows are gone for good.

In The Punisher season 2, we pick up with Frank Castle, who has been living a quiet life on the road. Unfortunately for him, he becomes tangled up in an attempted murder of a young girl, played by series newcomer Giorgia Whigham. He is then drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the clearly important information she carries with her. Now, Frank has a fresh target on his back as enemies, both new and old, force him to face the question; should he accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher?

Joining Jon Bernthal this season in the cast will be Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Josh Stewart (John Pilgrim), Floriana Lima (Dr. Krista Dumont) and Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, aka Jigsaw, one of Castle's most notorious foes from the comics. It's also been confirmed previously that Deborah Ann Woll will reprise her role as Karen Page from Daredevil once more here as well, which could help ease the sting a bit for fans of that series. Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer.

In addition to the trailer, we've also got several new character posters to check out as well. This trailer serves as a reminder of what we're going to lose as the Marvel Netflix era comes to an end. Marvel Studios simply isn't going to do anything this gritty or violent within the framework of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least not in the foreseeable future. It's a side of Marvel that fans are surely going to be sad to lose. But at least we've got a bit more to look forward to before it's over with. The Punisher season 2 arrives on January 18. Be sure to check out the new trailer and posters from Netflix below.
