Universal Pictures has moved its upcoming horror sequel The Purge: Anarchy up from June 20, 2014 back to July 18, 2014. The film will now go up against Warner Bros.' Jupiter Ascending and Planes: Fire & Rescue in wide release, and indie's The Rover and Wish I Was Here in limited release.

While an official synopsis has not been released yet, actor Zach Gilford revealed last month that there are none of the characters from the original, with the follow-up taking place in the inner city where residents don't have the luxury of elite security systems. Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Carmen Ejogo and Kiele Sanchez also star.

James DeMonaco (The Purge) is directing from his own screenplay, with Blumhouse's Jason Blum producing alongside Sebastien Lemercier and Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form.
