Here is the first official photo of John Cusack (courtesy of The Huffington Post) as poet Edgar Allan Poe in The Raven, directed by James McTeigue.

The dark thriller, currently filming in Europe, is a period piece about the last five days before Edgar Allan Poe's odd death, in which the poet is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in his stories.

James McTeigue has described The Raven as "an amalgamation of Poe's stories crossed with Seven. It's about a serial killer loose in 1850s Baltimore."

The Raven does not have a distributor or release date yet.
