The Rise of Skywalker is going to be "dark," "scary," and "sad," according to Daisy Ridley. The actress is currently out promoting the upcoming highly anticipated movie. Ridley also recently revealed that the final installment in the Skywalker Saga was her favorite to make. We're now just a little over a month from the movie hitting theaters and speculation about the sequel has gotten to fever pitch. There are a lot of questions Star Wars fans have and a lot of loose ends to be tied up.

In a new interview, Rey actress Daisy Ridley was asked to describe The Rise of Skywalker in just three words. "Definitely dark...." Ridley begins. "There are bits that are genuinely scary," she continues. "And sad," she adds. However, she wasn't finished there and decided to give a fourth word. "And joyful," she concludes. Dark, scary, sad, and joyful sounds like a pretty great way to put an end to the latest trilogy and over 40 years of storytelling.

The Rise of Skywalker went through some speed bumps behind-the-scenes. Colin Trevorrow was originally on board to write and direct the third installment, but was later fired and replaced with J.J. Abrams. Despite this pretty major setback, Daisy Ridley says this movie was by far her favorite to make. She explains.

"It's the first time I've filmed more confident because I feel like there was nothing else I could've done. The third one for me was the best. It's a big film for everyone. I did all of the emotions: I did frowns, I did smiles, it was the sort of biggest breadth, and I think that's also why I had such a good time, because I got to do so much sh*t - like, physically, emotionally - and I got to work with so many people."

The Rise of Skywalker footage we have seen through Star Wars 9 trailers and TV spots has been pretty dark, in terms of tone. Bringing back Emperor Palpatine has placed a dark cloud over the movie, which is represented in the footage as we see Rey and Kylo Ren battle it out on the wreckage of the second Death Star. So, Daisy Ridley's words on describing the movie have already been shown, except for the joyful aspect.

Anthony Daniels recently released his memoirs and dispelled the rumors that C-3PO is going to die. The actor wanted his iconic golden droid to get a proper send off, but director J.J. Abrams was against the idea, so the character will live through The Rise of Skywalker. However, we don't know which version of the character is going to make it. With a little over a month to go, Star Wars fans are in the home stretch, which unfortunately means that real leaks are on the way. So, be on the lookout in the coming weeks for people trying to spoil the movie for others. The interview with Daisy Ridley was originally conducted by Entertainment Weekly.
