A new Star Wars book has provided a window into Finn's love life, offering us some clues as to how certain relationships will progress in The Rise of Skywalker. This info comes via the newly released Star Wars: Resistance Reborn, a canon novel that helps to tee up the events of Episode IX. The novel picks up in the aftermath of the events of The Last Jedi and sees the Resistance, or what's left of it, trying to put the pieces back together and assemble forces to get back in the fight against the First Order.

Warning: spoilers ahead for Star Wars: Resistance Reborn. Those who have not read the book yet and wish to read it without having anything spoiled should turn back now. At one point in the novel, Poe has a chat with his buddy Finn that provides clues about a couple of key relationships in his life. Specifically, the nature of his relationship with both Rey and Rose. Is there a hint of romance in either case? Based on what's being put forth in this book, not so much.

The chat in question takes place after Poe walks in during a chat between Finn and Rey that seems rather intimate. After Poe interrupts, Rey heads out, leaving him to have a little chat with Finn about what's going on between them. When asked point-blank about it, Finn has a pretty definitive response.

"No, nothing like that. Just friends."

Some playful tension between the two was injected into The Force Awakens, but that relationship wasn't further explored in The Last Jedi, as Rey and Finn were separated for most of the movie. Moving on, Poe decides to press forth with this line of questioning and inquires about Rose Tico as well. Finn also provides a similar answer on that front, after first being taken back by the question.

"Crait... was a moment. But that's it. Friends there too."

So that is that. As fans will recall, Rose kisses Finn near the end of The Last Jedi during the battle on Crait. Rose saved Finn, who was getting ready to sacrifice himself for the good of the Resistance. That begs the question, will we explore Finn's love life at all? Poe even quips after the exchange, "I can't keep up with your 'just friends' man." There are those who have championed the idea of Poe and Finn ending up together. While they're close as ever in the book, things don't appear to be trending in that direction.

Another theory put forth is that John Boyega's Finn and Naomi Ackie's Jannah will become romantically involved. Jannah is a new character that remains largely mysterious. With that, anything is possible. But it's also possible that Finn will remain a self-partnered at the end of the trilogy. We shall see what director J.J. Abrams has in store for us when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20. This news comes to us via Syfy Wire.
