The Porgs are back. An international poster for The Rise of Skywalker features one of the little creatures from Ahch-To. The Porgs made their debut in Rian Johnson's heavily divisive The Last Jedi and a lot of Star Wars fans were not into them at all. They provided some comic relief in the movie and ended up flying off of store shelves. Until now, we had not seen a Porg in any of the promotional material from The Rise of Skywalker.

The German poster for The Rise of Skywalker features one lone Porg hanging out on the ground. We believe this is Chewbacca's Porg pal Terbus, who was only recently given a proper name. The tasty treat is pretty small and easy to miss, but it's there, which may be a bummer for some Star Wars fans who weren't into their introduction. However, it appears that the little bird-like aliens were a big hit in Germany, at least big enough to make it on to this latest poster. They have yet to make it on any North American posters or trailers, at this time.

The Rise of Skywalker sees the return of Lando Calrissian too. We're not exactly sure what his role in the movie will be, but we have seen him piloting the Millennium Falcon, which means he may come in contact with a Porg at some point in the movie. It's also possible that a few of the Porgs that made it out of Ahch-To may not have survived their new home. There is a bit of a time jump when the movie begins, so we'll just have to wait and see how many of the Porgs survived.

J.J. Abrams recently admitted to laughing when he first read the script for The Last Jedi. He was amazed by all of the risks that Rian Johnson was taking and adding in the Porgs was certainly one of them. While they don't have a huge part in the movie, they definitely have a presence and one has to imagine that Abrams will have them stuffed in the background instead of having them at the forefront. The director will probably just have a few of them in the background, interacting with the sets, or maybe even hanging out with Chewie.

The Rise of Skywalker opens in theaters on December 20th and it will bring the Skywalker Saga to a close. J.J. Abrams is wrapping up over forty years of storytelling across nine three trilogies. The director has said in the past that he does not enjoy ending things, but he was able to have the help of George Lucas this time around, which was more than likely a huge help. Lucas was available to fill in a lot story details that were important for the main story. While we don't know a whole lot about the movie, we do now know that some Porgs will be back, whether you like it or not.
