Burger King Germany is running a crazy campaign for The Rise of Skywalker. Fans of the Star Wars franchise can go into a participating restaurant and read spoilers aloud from the upcoming movie in exchange for a free Whooper. That's just the start though. The whole place is decked out in spoilers for the final installment in the Skywalker Saga, including the burger wrappers and straws. Burger King went ahead and did this by themselves with no participation from Lucasfilm or Disney, which could be kind of risky.

To get around the legalities of the situation, Burger King Germany does not mention The Rise of Skywalker or Star Wars by name. The iconic block lettering of the official logo is used, but everything is tweaked a bit. Rey is mentioned in one spoiler as " the young sword lady," Chewbacca is referred to as "the hairy roaring creature," and Emperor Palpatine is "the dead hooded villain." The fast food chain is now using the slogan, "May the Whopper Be With You." All of this for a free Whopper.

"We wanted to challenge people's Whopper love and put it to the ultimate test by asking them to choose between their love for our flagship product and their love for the most epic sci-fi movie ever," said Klaus Schmäing, director of marketing at Burger King Germany. It's definitely working as everybody is now talking about The Rise of Skywalker and Burger King. As for the Star Wars 9 spoilers, they are taken from fan sites and social media, some of which is actually real, while the rest could be false. We won't truly know until the movie hits theaters next week.

Disney and Lucasfilm currently have a lot on their plates with The Rise of Skywalker opening in theaters next week. They have yet to comment on Burger King Germany's new marketing campaign and they more than likely will not. The fast food chain has covered most of the legal bases and are just having a good time with the Star Wars franchise and its fans, who seem to enjoy the humorous way to get a free burger. As of this writing, the promotion is only running in certain location around Germany.

Burger King has been getting in on inventive marketing campaigns frequently over the years. They've unofficially tied themselves the latest big screen adaptation of Stephen King's IT in an effort to troll McDonalds, which worked out pretty well. The fast food chain is always careful to look at the copyright laws before attempting these fun advertisements. It's a pretty genius idea that gets Burger King Germany trending right along with The Rise of Skywalker all over the world. The Hollywood Reporter was the first to reveal the Burger King news.
