Pro wrestling fans worldwide are in mourning after the death of WWE legend Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall. Along with the fans, many of Hall's colleagues from the industry have also been feeling the pain of the loss, and there has been an outpouring of tributes posted for the late WWE Hall of Famer. Among those commenting on the news is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who went toe to toe with Hall in the wrestling ring before transitioning to Hollywood movie star."Pro wrestling just lost a legend in Scott Hall," the Jungle Cruise star said on Instagram. "Scott came from an era of pro wrestling where wrestlers were the biggest and toughest men on the planet. Scott was a big man who was athletically gifted. Tough as hell. And inside that ring he was an extraordinarily talented and intense athlete."Johnson also posted a video clip of his match with Hall on WWE SmackDown in 2002. In his tribute post, Johnson shares a story about how he told Hall how much the pro wrestling icon meant to him that very night. While he was just getting started in the business, Johnson had been inspired by Hall's work. As it turns out, Hall had no idea he had been so influential to The Rock.
"Before my match here with Scott, I made sure to tell him how much his in ring work influenced me," The Rock said. "When I was a rookie in wrestling, I would study Scott’s matches. His style, intensity, crispness and his excellent in ring IQ and psychology. I studied his matches, frame by frame. He was shocked to hear this from me. We came up in different eras. He knew I was a student of the game, but had no idea he was one of the ones I studied."
Johnson adds, "He thought that was so cool and we went out there that night and lit it the f**k up inside that ring. It was my honor, brother. And 'thank you for the house.' Go rest high."
The Rock Remembers Many Wrestling Stars from Years Past on Young Rock
Dwayne Johnson's tribute to Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall comes just as NBC premieres the second season of the autobiographical sitcom Young Rock. The series follows Johnson in the younger years of his life before he goes on to become one of pro wrestling's biggest superstars of all time. It includes many WWE legends from years past, such as the late Andre the Giant, who will be featured more frequently in season 2, with actor Matthew Willig promoted to series regular for the second season.
