Will Poulter, Johnny Flynn, and Naomi Ackie are just some of the names associated with the heist-romance The Score. The film premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival on Monday, November 22. The Score is a fresh take on the whole heist genre, amalgamating elements from musical drama and romance. Written and directed by Malachi Smyth (Light of the World, Sentinel), the film follows a minimalistic short fiction format, with the majority of the action taking place in or around a particular setting.

The Score revolves around small-time crooks Mike (singer Johnny Flynn) and Troy (Will Poulter), who are off on a new gig that will presumably change their lives. As they wait for a rendezvous hand-over at a secluded roadside cafe, Troy ends up smitten by the waitress Gloria (Naomi Ackie). As his feeling for her grow stronger and more sure, he starts questioning his life choices so far, while his real threat inches closer by the minute.

The Score promises a host of great performances, with BAFTA winner Naomi Ackie (The End of The F***king World, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) on one side, and BAFTA Rising Star Award winner Will Poulter (Maze Runner, Midsommar) on the other. Johnny Flynn proved his worth in ways more than one in this film. Along with a well-fleshed portrayal of the crook Mike, the 'Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit' frontman has also written the songs featured in the film.

Johnny Flynn has appeared in a rather long list of movie and TV credits so far, and The Score is definitely a rather beautiful feather in the musician's cap. He even starred in the David Bowie biopic Stardust in the eponymous role. As for the Midsommar star Will Poulter, he has a rather exciting road ahead, with his entry into the MCU as Adam Warlock in the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Naomi Ackie is by now a well-known face, courtesy of her host of TV roles as well as her performance in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Score has been produced by Matthew James Wilkinson of Stigma Films and Ben Pullen of Sentinel Entertainment and co-produced by Isabelle Georgeaux of Pont Neuf. Executive producers are Nick Angel (who previously collaborated with Wilkinson on Yesterday) and Tim Dellow of Transgressive, who represents Johnny Flynn’s music.
