They're really going the extra mile to promote this DVD...

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that 20th Century Fox is sparing no expense to promote The Simpsons: The Movie.

The brunt of the promotions take place in New York City where the Empire State Building will be turned Simpsons yellow, the first time the famous skyscraper has ever been involved in a movie promotion. NYC's Bryant Park will also display a 25-foot inflatable Homer Simpson and they will also have 2,500 mega-donut balloons. Times Square is also getting in on the fun, with people distributing yellow Santa hats.

Los Angeles won't be left out as well. There will be holiday elves handing out D'Ohnut sprinkles and in Hollywood, they will have a holiday festival with inflatable Homer Santa's, Christmas trees and ballooons.

It doesn't stop there, though, with many other cities that will have teams giving out Santa hats and other Simpsons goodies. Steve Feldstein, senior VP corporate and market communications for Fox Home Entertainment said it best.

"We want to make sure everyone in the modern world knows this is out on DVD."
