The Simpsons Movie managed to jump into the number two spot in the States, but elsewhere on the planet, the reigning yellow family crashed the top spot on this weekend's overseas box office charts. The film, in its second week of release, grabbed a handy sum of $47.3 million overseas. That brings its worldwide total to $315.5 million dollars in just twelve short days.

Four other films helped to make this weekend's international take a supreme one . Transformers, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ratatouille and Korean monster pic Dragon Wars (D-War) all brought in a combined gross of $100 million.

The one major surprise this weekend was Dragon Wars (D-War), a film about a giant snake that destroys downtown Los Angeles. It bowed with $19.2 million in its home country of Korea, making it an instant blockbuster. The English-langue film will open in the U.S. next month.

Most of the major Tentpole pictures have already played themselves out, so officials are calling next weekend an open shot. Anything could quite possibly take the crown. The Bourne Ultimatum, which opened this week in the states, will make its overseas debut. As will Rush Hour 3.
