Christina Ricci has joined the voice cast of Sony Pictures Animation's sequel The Smurfs 2.

The actress will voice a new character named Vexi, an evil version of Smurfette (voiced by Katy Perry). Many of the original cast members, including Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, and Jayma Mays, are expected to return for this second adventure. Raja Gosnell is also set to direct once again, helming from a script by J. David Stem and David N. Weiss.

The Smurfs big screen franchise kicked off with evil wizard Gargamel chasing the Smurfs out of their village. They're forced through a portal, out of their world and into ours, landing in the middle of New York's Central Park. As of yet, no story details have been revealed for this sequel.
