Mary-Louise Parker, Nick Nolte, Martin Short and Joan Plowright are set to join the children's fantasy, The Spiderwick Chronicles for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.

Already part of the cast are Izabella Miko, Andrew McCarthy and the stars Freddy Highmore and Sarah Bolger. Based on the best-selling books by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, the film centers on twin brothers Jared and Simon (Highmore) who, along with their sister Mallory (Bolger), uncover a world of fairies and other creatures, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Mack Waters is directing The Spiderwick Chronicles which is currently in the middle of production; due to special effects post, a 2008 release has been scheduled.
