Prime Video's standout summer show, The Summer I Turned Pretty, is coming back for a second season. The series follows Isabel "Belly" Conklin (Lola Tung) and the sons of her mother's childhood best friend, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno). They've spent all their summers together, but as they all grow and mature, the dynamics of the group change.

With production for season 2 underway, fans of the show will be going back to Cousins Beach in the (hopefully near) future. While we aren't sure when we'll see the next chapter of Belly's story, we can speculate about what the new episodes will include. Jenny Han, the author of the books and executive producer of the series, has been careful about what she reveals on her TikTok, only showing the fun behind the scenes.

Since it's based on a trilogy, it makes sense for the next season to focus on events from the second book, It's Not Summer Without You. The first season covered everything from the first book, so it's the next logical step. Here are the top moments we'd like to see make the leap from page to screen as Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad's journeys continue.

Belly and Conrad Going to Prom

The second book starts on a high note, with Conrad calling Belly night after night and even driving up to see her, despite being enrolled and living at college several hours away. While it seems like a fairytale, by May, it turns into heartbreak.

Conrad initially didn't want to go. He claimed not to like dances and asked if Belly would just go with her friends. This disappointed her. She tried to convince him to come by, claiming she'd go with someone else, but Conrad didn't take the bait.

Prom wasn't what Belly wanted it to be. While Conrad eventually agreed to go, leaving her a voicemail saying he'd come, he seemed less than thrilled to be there. He forgot her corsage and barely danced with her, not really engaging with the evening. When he decided to leave that night, instead of the next morning as initially planned, the two argued and broke up.

Belly running away in the rain while wearing her prom dress is a moment that needs to be in the second season. It's a pivotal moment for Conrad and Belly's relationship, showing just how broken the college freshman was during his mother's cancer resurgence. At this point, Belly didn't know Susannah had become even sicker, so she thinks the oldest Fisher just found someone else at college. Fans even hope a Taylor Swift song, like "Haunted," will play during the scene.

Jeremiah and Belly Trying to Make Slurpees

In a flashback sequence, Belly shares that Mr. Fisher liked to make milkshakes and had a fancy blender at the Cousins beach house for that very purpose. But, there was one unspoken rule: the children were not allowed to use it.

With no way to get Slurpees in the summer town, Jeremiah and Belly decided to use the blender to make Kool-Aid Slurpees. It did not work out, with a purple ice and sugar mixture ending up all over the kitchen. After the two are caught and some witty comments are shared, the flashback ends.

The moment shows the relationship between Belly and Jeremiah. As the second book focuses on the two of them trying to help Conrad, it's great to see how their relationship has progressed since they were young kids. It also shows the nature of Mr. Fisher, which is important given the circumstances throughout the book. The first season of the series didn't show much of the father figure, so this moment gives writers a chance to show how the Fisher father is and how his actions impact his sons.

The Final Cousins Beach House Party

While Conrad, Jeremiah, and Belly are at the beach house, they decide to throw one last party. They think it's going to be their last night in a house that's filled with years of memories. Even though they may be tainted because of everything that happened, they want to have one last celebration in their summer home before it's too late.

The party gives way to Jeremiah admitting to Conrad that he had feelings for Belly and intended to act on them. Conrad lies about still liking Belly, which upsets Jeremiah. He believes his brother will never be what Belly needs, even if she doesn't see that herself. It gives insight into Jeremiah's mind and helps set the stage for what audiences will go through if season 3 is greenlit. It also gives context to future events in the book.

Belly and Jeremiah's Kiss

When Jeremiah and Belly take Conrad back to college at the end of the book, the younger Fisher brother finally makes his move. After witnessing Conrad and Belly share a moment when he shared how he did on the first of two exams he had that day, Jeremiah said he and Belly should head to the car while they waited for Conrad to finish his second exam. Despite a short argument, the two end up kissing, which Belly speaks highly of to the reader.

The only issue is they are interrupted by Conrad. He's hurt and says some pretty rude things to Belly, including that he never cared for her in the first place. While he later takes it back, this moment is the start of Belly moving towards Jeremiah as a real love interest and leaving Conrad behind. It's a moment of growth and acceptance, which shows just how much the teen has matured since the start of the first book.
