Johnny Depp isn't one to wait around. While Walt Disney Pictures continues to decide the fate of Lone Ranger, the actor is moving forward on The Thin Man, a remake of the classic 1934 mystery comedy starring William Powell.

David Koepp, writer and director of Johnny Depp's 2004 thriller Secret Window, has been hired to adapt the screenplay for The Thin Man. The story revolves around a retired detective who solves a murder with his wife solely for the fun of it.

David Koepp will be writing the script based on the original Dashiell Hammett novel. Rob Marshall, director of Johnny Depp's summer hit Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, will helm this remake for Warner Bros., and plans to include at least two musical numbers within the context of the story.

The search is now on to find an actress to play Nora, wife to Johnny Depp's Nick.
