Jackass's Johnny Knoxville, SNL's Andy Samberg and Australian comic Shane Jacobson are in talks to play Moe, Larry and Curly in 20th Century Fox's The Three Stooges directed by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, reports The Wrap.

Previously, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Jim Carrey were circling the project, when it was at MGM, but have since all dropped off the project.

Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly are directing from a script they co-wrote with Mike Cerrone. The plan is to divide the PG-rated film into three, 27-minute segments driven by physical comedy.

Fox will start production on The Three Stooges March 14.
