Just yesterday we reported that The Three Stooges directors Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly do not have a cast lined up for their comedy yet. Today, the directors revealed that they want Cher to play the nun character Mother Superior.

It seems that Cher agreed to the part years ago when filming a cameo for the brothers' comedy Stuck On You, when they believed The Three Stooges would be their next project. A rep for the actress did not comment on the story. Here's what Peter Farrelly had to say about the actress.

"Cher is just the coolest chick ever. It's hard to describe. You meet a lot of celebrities in our business. We're not cowed by many of them. But Cher is bawdy, she's fun, she's cool, she's lived a life, she's got experience, she's humble. It's the humility that struck me the most. She's not really a diva."

Initially, The Three Stooges was set up with Jim Carrey, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro as the Stooges until the project fell apart late last year. However, Bobby Farrelly revealed that Benicio Del Toro could still be in contention to play Moe.

We also reported in January that Johnny Knoxville and Andy Samberg were in talks for the comedy. Although no one has officially signed on yet, Bobby Farrelly indicated they could still be in the running.

"We like both of those guys. We always thought Samberg looks a little like he could play Larry. And Knoxville is a real-life stooge. He's a real-life Moe."

The Three Stooges is planning to start production in March. CLICK HERE to read the full interview piece.
