Something terrifying has been awakened in our exclusive trailer for The Tokoloshe. Described as a Grudge-like horror movie, this thriller is based on an urban legend. And it will be here to to horrify and scare audiences this Christmas season when it arrives in December.

Jerome Pikwane's bloodcurdling ode to the mythological creature The Tokoloshe is set to spook audiences who wish Halloween could last all year. Uncork'd Entertainment is unleashing The Tokoloshe, director Jerome Pikwane's frightening fictional account of the mythological creature, on digital platforms and disc starting December 3. Do you dare even watch the trailer?

Busi, a young destitute woman with dangerously repressed emotions, lands a job as a cleaner at a rundown hospital in the heart of Johannesburg. Desperate for the money so she can bring her younger sister to Johannesburg, she must cope despite the predatory and corrupt hospital manager.

When Busi discovers an abandoned young girl in the hospital, who believes she is tormented by a supernatural force, Busi must face her own demons from her past in order to save the child from the abusive monster that pursues them both relentlessly.

From writers Richard Kunzmann and Jerome Pikwane, and starring Petronella Tshuma, Kwande Nkosi, and Dawid Minnaar, Jerome Pikwane directs The Tokoloshe. Jerome Pikwane is making his directorial debut with The Tokoloshe. His only previous credit is for working the Camera and Electrical Department and the Sound Department on the short Bar Barons, where he served as both a grip and a boom operator. This is also Richard Kunzmann first credit as a screen writer.

The myth of the Tokoloshe is very real and still very alive. Just this past October, heading towards Halloween, real-life triple murderer Colin Pillay claimed that his wife was killed by a Tokoloshe, though reports had her listed as a suicide. The killer claimed that the woman had been set upon with a black magic curse fifteen years prior to his murder conviction, and pleaded that he was not a suspect in her death. He was later convicted of the triple murder of his married girlfriend and her two daughters. This all happened in Phoenix, and almost works as a viral ad for the movie coming our way this December.

Tokoloshes are originally creatures from Zulu mythology that inhabit South Africa. These creatures attack you in your sleep and are said to be a part of the reason while many people in the Zulu culture used to sleep with their beds raised off the floor. Jerome Pikwane's promises to explore this unique myth, and add some of his own personal twists and flourishes to it.
