Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber has signed on to rewrite The Umbrella Academy for Universal Pictures, which is an adaptation of the 2008 Eisner Award-winning Dark Horse comic written by Gerard Way, singer of My Chemical Romance.
The first draft of the action adventure was written by Mark Bomback.
The comic centers on an adopted dysfunctional family of superheroes with bizarre powers who are brought together by a mentor.
