Those who have seen the critically praised documentary Man on Wire will already be familiar with Philippe Petit's story. Now, acclaimed director Robert Zemeckis has set out to retell this tale of a man who, on August 7, 1974, attempted an astounding high-wire walk between the two World Trade Center towers. Sony's TriStar Pictures will release The Walk in 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on October 2. But first, we get a cool new poster, which shows star Joseph Gordon-Levitt defying death with this intense stunt.
The Walk is the true story of a young dreamer, Philippe Petit, and a band of unlikely recruits who together achieve the impossible...They pull off an illegal wire walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. With little more than nerve and blind ambition, Petit and his ragtag crew overcome daunting physical obstacles, betrayals, countless close calls and overwhelming odds to beat the system and execute their mad plan.
With a screenplay by Robert Zemeckis and Christopher Browne based on Philippe Petit's book To Reach the Clouds, The Walk also stars Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Charlotte Le Bon, Clément Sibony and César Domboy. Check out the latest poster, which teases the walk itself. And then check out Man on Wire so that you have the full story before seeing The Walk this fall.
