Guess what? Dario Argento's classic 1977 horror film Suspiria has been completely restored. And you are going to get a chance to see it.
The Weinstein Company has purchased rights to the recently polished film. They will be releasing it through one of their three new DVD labels. The cleaned-up shocker recently screened at Cannes, and will now be released on Dimension Extreme. According to Variety, it is a label for new horror, comedy, thriller, and sci-fi titles from the Weinsteins.
Weinsteins' other two new labels include the Miriam Collection for restored pictures and prestigious foreign films. And the family label Kaleidoscope TWC. Harvey stated, "We can think of no better way to honor our mother, Miriam, than to associate her name with some of the most beloved and classic films of all time."
The Oscar-nominated epic El Cid will be the first film released under the Miriam label. Akira Kurosawa's 1993 film Madadayo will follow.
Kaleidoscope TWC will release a new CG-animated Nutty Professor with voice work by Jerry Lewis. There were no release dates available at press time.
