The West Wing cast will reunite this fall for an HBO Max special encouraging viewers to vote in this year's election season. In addition to bringing back its lead cast, the special will also feature series creator Aaron Sorkin and executive producer/director Thomas Schlamme. Dubbed A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, the show has been organized to raise awareness of the non-profit, nonpartisan organization When We All Vote, and WarnerMedia will be donating to the cause in honor of the special.

A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote is scheduled to be shot over multiple days at L.A.'s Orpheum Theatre in early October. The special will reunite cast members Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and, of course, Martin Sheen -- who just recently celebrated his 80th birthday. The benefit show is also set to bring in special guest appearances, with additional cast members to be announced by HBO Max in the near future. Reportedly, this will include a special message from former first lady Michelle Obama.

Fans of the show will remember that The West Wing had a very successful 7-season run between 1999 and 2006. Set in the West Wing of the White House, the show followed the Democratic administration run by president Josiah Bartlet (Sheen). The upcoming reunion will mark the first for the show since it came to an end over 14 years ago. Cast members will be recreating the "Hartsfield's Landing" episode of The West Wing from the show's third season for the upcoming HBO Max special. The stage production will also see Sorkin writing exclusive, original material for the show with Schlamme serving as the director.

"Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting The West Wing cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election," Sorkin said in a statement.

"With A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, we are excited to revisit this legendary series and offer our passionate fans something that is substantial, meaningful and unforgettable, while also promoting an important message for our time," adds HBO Max head or original content, Sarah Aubrey. "Combined with WarnerMedia's donation to When We All Vote, this special not only entertains, but also helps ensure the organization can carry forth its mission to increase voter participation in every election."

A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will stream on HBO Max this fall. An exact date to watch the special has yet to be revealed.
