There were reports surfacing recently that the first trailer for The Wolverine is debuting in front of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey next month, on December 14th. Director James Mangold took to his Twitter page earlier today to clear up the news, revealing that the trailer will not premiere until early 2013.
Contrary to reports, there will be no trailer on THE HOBBIT for THE WOLVERINE. You will get a glimpse early 2013. I promise.

It makes sense when you take into account the tweet he sent out just before that message, that there is only one day of production left on The Wolverine. While they likely already have plenty of footage ready to cut into a trailer, it seems like too quick of a turnaround.
One day of production left on THE WOLVERINE! Best crew I ever worked with. Thank you. I will miss everyone.

There are a few possibilities of when this footage may debut. It may premiere during Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, or it could be attached to prints of the Fox action sequel A Good Day to Die Hard, hitting theaters February 14.
