Kotaku is reporting that representatives from Legendary Pictures and Warcraft makers Blizzard attended this weekend's BlizzCon. There, they dropped a couple of hints as to what we can expect from a World of Warcraft movie.

Blizzard's Paul Sams and Chris Metzen and Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull and Chief Creative Officer Jon Jashni confirmed that the film would be a live action venture with a modicum of CGI'd environments and special effects. Their plan is to release the film in 2009.

They want to create a true theatrical epic, not just another video game turned into a movie. The script is currently being reworked, and they have not yet attached a director to the project. The story is confirmed to take place one year before the events of World of Warcraft. And the film will be told from the Alliances' perspective.
