Project X star Thomas Mann has joined the cast of King Dork for Gary Sanchez Productions, Nala Films, and director Matt Piedmont (Casa de Mi Padre).

The story centers on Sam and Tom, two losers who use their love of rock and roll music to get through their tumultuous high school days. Thomas Mann will play Tom, while Keir Gilchrist is circling the Sam role. Nick Offerman is eyeing the part of Tom's stepfather. We first reported on this comedy a few weeks back, when Matt Piedmont signed on to direct.

D.V. DeVincentis is writing the adapted screenplay, based on the novel of the same name by Frank Portman. Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy, and Kevin J. Messick are producing through Gary Sanchez Productions.

Production is scheduled to begin in June. This was the first project acquired by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay when they formed Gary Sanchez Productions in 2006. The comedy was once situated at Paramount Vantage and Sony, before Nala Films came aboard.
