Have you ever seen the British show Life on Mars? It has been the best thing to hit the BBC since the original The Office checked out some five years ago. Life on Mars revolved around a present day detective that gets sent back to 1971. There, he must work on a case that could impact his future, though without the aid of today's technological advances.

David E. Kelley is reworking the drama for American audiences. According to Variety, he has hired The West Wing director Thomas Schlamme to direct and produce the pilot. This new version of a fairly new classic is already in pre-production.

Kelley is currently casting the show, which originally stared John Simm and Phillip Glenister. What About Brian's Rachelle LeFevre has already joined the show.

Shooting will begin this summer.
