Last month, Marvel announced a number of cast members for its highly-anticipated sequel Thor: Ragnarok, which includes new characters like Jeff Goldblum's The Grandmaster, Karl Urban's Skurge and Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, along with confirmation that Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is playing the villainous Hela. We still don't have too many details about how these characters fit into the story, but they will join previously-confirmed stars such as Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall) and Anthony Hopkins (Odin). Today we have new details regarding The Grandmaster from the man who will be portraying him, Jeff Goldblum.

In the comics, The Grandmaster is an Elder of the universe, who possesses one of the Infinity Gems, which could come into play in the build-up for Avengers: Infinity War. While we don't know for sure if one of the Infinity Gems will be featured in Thor: Ragnarok, Jeff Goldblum told Empire that this eccentric character is a hedonist. Here's what he had to say below.

"He's a hedonist, a pleasure-seeker, an enjoyer of life and tastes and smells. I thought, 'I can do that, I'll bet!' I'm working on my part every day. I'm a sponge, researching. [Taika Waititi] is encouraging me to improvise and make it my own, and that's what I'm trying to do. I hope he doesn't throw me out on the first day!"

The actor also revealed that he will be on set for between three weeks and a month on Thor: Ragnarok, although it isn't known how long the whole shoot is expected to last, or when principal photography is scheduled to start. We do know that filming will take place in Chris Hemsworth's home country of Australia at some point this summer, which Jeff Goldblum is looking forward to. Here's what he had to say below.

"Not only Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins... jeez, that's gonna be fun. I've never been to Australia except to do these little publicity things. I love Taika Waititi."

Mark Ruffalo is also returning as Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, who will reportedly go on a "cosmic road trip" with Chris Hemsworth's Thor. There have been rumors that the villainous Hela will be teaming up with Loki, who banishes Thor from Asgard and destroys his hammer Mjolnir. Thor goes on a journey, which takes him to a gladiator planet where he's forced to do battle with the planet's champion, Hulk. Hopefully we'll get new story details as we get closer to production starting on Thor: Ragnarok, so stay tuned.
