Actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) has signed on to play Algrim the Strong and Kurse in Thor: The Dark World.

Algrim the Strong was the most powerful of the Dark Elves who is convinced by his leader, Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston), to battle the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth). After being defeated by Thor and betrayed by Malekith, he is transformed into a much more powerful entity dubbed Kurse.

Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor is taking the helm on this superhero sequel, working from a screenplay by Don Payne (Thor). Production will take place in London later this fall.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is best known for playing Mr. Eko on Lost. Other recent credits include Killer Elite, The Thing, and Faster.
