Josh Brolin has signed on for The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which Warner Bros. is developing as a directing vehicle for Tim Burton, according to Heat Vision.

The scripting team of Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney are tackling the script.

The film will be based on the 1831 novel by Victor Hugo, tells the story of Quasimodo, a deformed and hunchbacked bell-ringer of the Notre Dame cathedral who tragically falls in love with beautiful gypsy named Esmerelda.
