We are months away from The Addams Family getting rebooted at Netflix. As has been previously reported, a new take on the kooky family is in the works as a live-action series with Tim Burton on board to direct. Called Wednesday, the series stars Jenna Ortega (Scream, X) as an older version of Wednesday Addams in her college years after moving out of the family mansion.

Per Collider, new promotional materials have been released for Wednesday, revealing when the series will start streaming. A poster featuring the Wednesday logo states that the series will arrive in "Fall 2022." An official premiere date wasn't stated, but it seems more likely than not that Netflix would want to debut the new Addam's Family reboot just in time for the Halloween season.

Tim Burton makes his small-screen directorial debut with Wednesday with the series coming from Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. It features characters from the original Addam's Family comic strip by Charles Addams. You can read the official logline for the new show below.

"The series will be a coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy focusing on Wednesday Addams and her years as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a monstrous killing spree of the town citizens, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships."

Jenna Ortega will be leading the series as Wednesday Addams, but other characters from the family will also be featured, albeit in a smaller capacity with Wednesday in a new setting. Also in the film as other Addams family members are Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzman as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, and George Burcea as Lurch. Other cast members include Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Thora Birch, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, and Georgie Farmer.

It has also been reported that an original Addams Family movie star has joined the cast of the reboot. Christina Ricci, who famously played a child version of Wednesday in the original two live-action films, will be playing a substantial role in Wednesday as well. Her exact role has not been revealed, but it has been reported that she will not be playing an older version of Wednesday, perhaps in flash-forward scenes or as a narrator as some fans had theorized. She will be playing an original character, though fans will certainly appreciate the link between the different Addams Family adaptations.

Wednesday will arrive on Netflix in Fall 2022 with an exact date yet to be announced.
