Heat Vision Blog reports that country singer and actor Tim McGraw is in talks for the Universal spy thriller Safe House.

McGraw will play the CIA mentor of Ryan Reynolds' lead character, who may not be all that he appears to be. The story follows Reynolds, who is the only surviving CIA agent after an attack at an agency Safe House. He must go on the lam with a dangerous prisoner (Denzel Washington) to get him back to safety.

Daniel Espinosa is directing from a script by David Guggenheim, a US Weekly editor who wrote the script on spec in his free time. No production schedule was given.

While Tim McGraw is primarily known as a country music superstar, he's starting to work more as an actor. His previous movies include The Kingdom, The Blind Side and Country Strong, which opens on December 22.
