We reported last month that Sharlto Copley was in talks to star in a new D.J. Caruso sci-fi film and now it seems he has dropped out of the project and a replacement has been found. Variety is reporting that Justified star Timothy Olyphant will be replacing Copley in I Am Number Four.

It was said that Copley was forced to bow out of the role due to scheduling conflicts with his upcoming press commitments to his new film, The A-Team, which is due in theaters on June 11.

The film is based off the young-adult novel series by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. The story centers around nine alien teens who leave their home planet, right before it was destroyed, for Earth, disguised as regular American teenagers. They then discover that they're being hunted by their enemy on Earth.

Olyphant will play Henri, the guardian of Number Four (Alex Pettyfer). Kevin Durand will play the alien enemy that is pursuing them while Teresa Palmer will play Number Six, Dianna Agron will play Sarah, the Earth girl that falls for Number Four and Callan McAuliffe will portray Number Four's new best friend.

D.J. Caruso is directing from the adapted script by Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and Marti Noxon. No production schedule was released for the film.
