The fans have spoken and Tobey Maguire has been named as most popular friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Hosted by IGN, a massive polling process was conducted with fans with 96 total different incarnations of Spider-Man from movies, TV shows, video games, and comic books. Fans voted for their favorite with thousands of 1v1 battles pitting all of these Spideys against each other, from Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Spider-Ham to Pseter Psarker and Spider-Byte and everything in between.

Ultimately, Tobey Maguire came out on the very top of the list, holding a 91.3% win percentage and winning 19,557 of his 21,426 battles. Of course, Maguire is also among the most well-known versions of Peter Parker with the incredible success of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. These movies were among the first superhero films to really break through and become so popular with mainstream audiences, helping to set the stage for the superhero movie boom of recent years. Even people who will never enjoy a Spider-Man comic book or video game are fond of the character because of Maguire's portrayal.

In second place is the playable Peter Parker from the Marvel's Spider-Man video game for PS4/PS5, having won 89.6% of his matchups. It's a bit surprising to see a video game character surpass other fan favorites from the movies like Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland, but the game was very well-received by critics and fans alike. Holland does fall into the #3 spot with an 88.9% win percentage, and following behind with the rest of the top five are Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's Peter B. Parker and Miles Morales in #4 and #5, respectively.

The Ultimate Spider-Man comic's Peter Parker web-slinged his way into the #6 spot, but the other live-action Spidey from the big screen landed right after with Andrew Garfield at #7. With Garfield's name recently trending as fans call for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to happen, it's expected he'd place somewhere in the top 10. The final three Spideys in the top ten, in order, are Earth-616's Peter Parker, Peter Parker from the 1990s cartoon series, and Miles Morales from Insomniac's PS4 and PS5 games.

If you're curious, the least popular Spider-Man, coming in the bottom spot at #96, is Patton Parnell. Winning just 12.9% of his battles, Patton only appeared in Edge of Spider-Verse #4 in 2014, and this very limited run likely plays a big role in his low popularity. Like Peter Parker, Patton develops spider-like abilities after he's bitten by a spider, but this also includes drastically changing his appearance, making him look physically more like an actual spider. The very dark interpretation of the character is also the polar opposite of the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" that most fans prefer.

Who knows, with all of this making it clear just how popular Tobey Maguire is with Spider-Man fans to this day, we just might get Spider-Man 4 after all. In any case, Maguire's Peter Parker will always be among the most popular of them all. You can see the full list and rankings along with more info about the poll at IGN.
