Tom Hanks and Playtone Productions partner, Gary Goetzman has made a deal to bring the stage show, Mamma Mia!, to the big screen for Universal Studios.

The two actors and producers closed a deal with Littlestar, the company run by the show's producer, Judy Craymer, and Abba songwriters Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus for the rights to the show.

Catherine Johnson, who is also the show's book writer, is penning the screenplay, which will stick closely to the crowd-pleasing musical's plot, says Variety. It's about a girl who invites three men, who could possibly be her father, to her wedding; Mamma Mia! has 22 ABBA songs peppered throughout.
