Tom Hardy has signed on to portray Al Capone in the true-story mobster crime drama Cicero, directed by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 director David Yates.

Tom Hardy said he will play the Depression-era Chicago crime boss sometime next year and well into 2014:

"'I've been working with Warner Bros., watching their gangster films - the ones with James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart and Edward G. Robinson. It's interesting to get them, and a bit of Capone, into the bloodstream."

Cicero, Illinois was where Al Capone set up headquarters, so he could operate outside the city limits of Chicago during the 1920s.
